Jess and I are running away to Europe.. but we will be back in 6 months so don't miss us too much.
As mature adults we are more than capable of budgeting and planning accommodation for the whole trip, however, we decided to wing it and go without much of a plan. Why? we will never know! But with Hamish and Andy as our role models how can we possibly go wrong?
We hope you enjoy seeing the pictures that we post, reading about the crazy adventures we have and snickering at our misfortunes that we will encounter along the way. It is a big step in our lives and a journey that will help us discover the true meaning of being independent. Don't worry about us too much though, I am confident that Jess will be able to take great care of us both.

Day 126- last couple of days in the coolest hostel ever!

Living in this awesome hostel for the past 2 weeks has been a lot better than I think we expected. It is such a fun place to live. It's next to impossible to be anti-social here, as a result Jess and I have met some amazing people and have made some really cool friends.

Last week Jess and I went on a ghost tour with Jen, a girl we met in our dorm. The tour took us into the Edinburgh Vaults and through Greyfriars graveyard.
It was lots of fun and while we didn't experience any supernatural phenomenon, the history and the spooky stories made our night fantastic!
This is a photo of us inside the vaults... Very beautiful I know.

Meet our new friend Jen! This is us infront of a statue of Greyfriars Bobby, the loyal dog that stayed by his master's grave until he died in 18something.
Jen is from Michigan and is coming home from spending a year teaching at a girls school in South Korea. She was so lovely!

We have also made friends with Luke, a very lovely French boy. He occasionally treats us with French lessons. Naturally the first thing to ask was "what are the French swear words??" But he won't teach them to us... Yet! Haha. He has been very helpful though and hopefully when we go to France we will at least be able to tell people that we don't speak much French or don't understand.

The receptionists at the hostel all know us now and Jess has had some funny conversations with the Spanish receptionist in particular. The only Spanish we have learned is from the el do paso soft/hard taco adverts back home, and also Dora the Explorer has helped out a little bit too (bless her frilly socks and purple back pack). As it turns out "por que no las dos" (why not two?) and "vamanos" (let's go!)  aren't quite enough to get one through a full Spanish conversation.

The other night we went to dinner at Sarah's house (a girl from my work). She cooked us some beautiful Mexican food which ugh!! was soooooo amazing!! Jess and I scoffed down as much as we could. Chris and Dino from work also came to join the party and we had such a great night. Thank you to Sarah and her wonderful cooking skills.
Chris, Dino (laying down) and Sarah!! ❤️❤️❤️

Last Monday, Jess and I finally made the hike up Arthur's Seat! Woohoo!! Haha it was spectacular! While, it was a bit too hazy to get a good picture of the view it was incredible to be up there and to have a 360 degree view of Edinburgh and also the surrounding suburbs... I guess you would call them? Haha!

Halfway through our trek
Oh look, a building!

(Witnessing someone stack it on top of the rocks)

On Wednesday, Jess and I spent the day clothes shopping for the warmer climates, that we will soon be experiencing (yaaaaaay!!). We also went out to dinner at the restaurant I work at. We were spoiled rotten by Chef Roy, who gave us our amazing meal for free!! Ugh it was so delicious.

I spent the rest of the week working, and on Saturday I had my last shift. My workmates spoiled me with presents and cake, I felt very special. I will miss them all, it has been so great to work there. Also I'm not sure If I mentioned this in my last post, but about 2 weeks ago, on one of my night shifts at work, I spilled scalding hot, fish soup all over one of the customers. Oh dear!! It was horrible!! I was so upset and embarrassed! The lady was really lovely about it though which was lucky. I don't know how I didn't get fired.. My bosses were too lovely to me.. thank goodness!! Haha but despite this terrible incident they still told me that they would miss me.. They also now have a good story to tell any nervous waiters or waitresses haha!!

Jess finished up working on Tuesday and has been getting to know all the staff and longer term residents at the hostel. She has been having a blast with them all!
