There was, however, time spent searching for jobs on the internet. Thank goodness for Gumtree. Day 55 - still unemployed. #itsahardenoughlife.
Also can you believe it? It was actually warm today and by warm I mean we could take one layer off. 5 layers to go.
So because Jessica and I are now pros at cooking our own dinners we thought we'd add something extra to the blog tonight.
Introducing:
The fully clothed chefs: Cooking with no idea, no recipe and no money.
A recipe for spaghetti. Minus the spaghetti and plus some pasta shells.
1. Find a pot and a pan.
2. Put water in said pot.
3. Put oil in said pan.
4. Wait for water to boil and pan to heat.
5. Wonder why pan is not getting hot.
6. Check that heat under pan is not off.
7. If it is off, turn heat under pan on. If it is on, get a new stove.
8. Wait a bit more.
9. Chuck some mince onto the pan. If it goes *tsssss* you are doing well. We think.
10. When water is boiled or bubbling put a whole lot of shell shaped pasta bits into pot.
11. Slap some crushed tomatoes onto meat so that it splatters all over Jess' new white singlet.
12. Apologise to Jessica.
13. Gently spoon dolmio bolognase sauce stuff onto meat and tomatoes.
14. Mix everything in pan.
15. Keep mixing.
16. Wait.
17. Take photo.
18. Stir shells.
19. When meat looks brown, pray that it is cooked and have a taste. If it tastes good add some salt so you look professional. If it tastes bad add some salt, it might make it better.
20. When you are pretty sure meat is all cooked turn pan heat off. Not pot heat, your shells are still cooking.
21. Wait for pasta shells to go squishy.
22. Throw one pasta shell at wall to see if it is ready.
23. Realise it is not spaghetti. Stop throwing pasta shells at walls.
24. Take another photo.
26. Put pasta in a bowl and top with bolognase and cheese.
27. Take another photo
29. Enjoy it.
30. Thank Jessica for being such a great chefess.

DeleteSounds like you had your Mum's recipe, Jaz!!!! :))))) Doesn't matter how you get there, so long as it tastes good at the end. You had the main ingredients - meat, sauce, pasta and cheese - anything else is a bonus! I'll bet it tasted wonderful (your first truly home cooked meal in your new home). Don't get discouraged with job hunting - your wonderful fresh, smiling, Australian faces and personalities will count for a lot. Love to you both. Grandmaa xoxo PS Tamara was 17 yesterday, so she will be the next one of you all to be driving :)
