Jess and I are running away to Europe.. but we will be back in 6 months so don't miss us too much.
As mature adults we are more than capable of budgeting and planning accommodation for the whole trip, however, we decided to wing it and go without much of a plan. Why? we will never know! But with Hamish and Andy as our role models how can we possibly go wrong?
We hope you enjoy seeing the pictures that we post, reading about the crazy adventures we have and snickering at our misfortunes that we will encounter along the way. It is a big step in our lives and a journey that will help us discover the true meaning of being independent. Don't worry about us too much though, I am confident that Jess will be able to take great care of us both.

To Bath or not to Bath, that is the question.

Well today has been very interesting.

We had to check out of our hostel today which I realise we haven't shown you a photo of.
This was our room. Apologies to our mothers for the messiness but with 6 smelly travellers sharing a room it was a little hard to keep it spick and span. Haha it wasn't too bad though everyone was really nice and nobody snored which was great and meant we got plenty of sleep.

Jess and I caught the train to Bath today. Getting on the train was smooth sailing but getting into the station proved very difficult. It turns out that there are specialised entrances for those travelling with suitcases and larger bags, but being the keen beans that we are we totally missed that sign and marched straight through the normal entry way. Well was this a big mistake or what!? So just to give you an idea it's all set up the same way as our go cards back in Brisbane but with gates that open and close like at central station except the only difference being the genius who set it up forgot to put a sensor there to know if you have gotten through or not. Well Jess went first and she got her body through easily but the gate shut on her before she had time to pull her bag through so we both freaked out and with my quick thinking I thought that if I run through super quick after touching my Oyster card I'd totally be able to get us both through with my bag too.. No... No it did not work. I got her bag and myself through but now my bag was stuck. And now of course there was a massive line of people trying to get through behind us while my hand is caught with my bag in the gate.. Ugh so embarrassing!! Luckily a very kind gentleman and his girlfriend helped me push my bag underneath the gates. There was a lot of squishing and pushing and shoving and then it finally came through.. All the while the gate was beeping loudly and disapprovingly at us! Oh dear so we were a little flustered and embarrassed after this but safely made it the rest of the way without too many dramas. It could only happen to us.
Luckily, we made it safely onto the train and enjoyed the scenic journey all the way to Bath!

Wow Bath is amazing!! It is so old and has so much character!

This is the 'The Circle'
Here is one of the streets. A lot of them look similar to this but a lot have alleyways coming off them so you can walk down and find little cafés and shops.

This is the Jane Austen Centre which is closed until after we leave :( But apparently Jane set 2 of her novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion in the town of Bath. So that was interesting to find out!

Here is one of the many churches! So old and so beautiful!

Jess took us to the oldest house in Bath. Built in 1482! It too is closed at the moment. Haha it's the off season now though so they must be getting ready for the summer travellers!

Speaking of weather and summer and temperatures... We are becoming very accustomed to the cold now. Today we even noticed that it felt 'hotter' in Bath than in London.. A sizzling 8 degrees today!

Jessica's tour continued until the sun went down, we even bumped into Clooney himself. He looked very surprised to meet us.

We had dinner in the pub underneath our hostel called Belushi's.
Jess ordered a pint of apple cider while my Australian citizenship was questioned because I asked for a pink lemonade instead of a beer hahaha. A pink lemonade is very Australian I do not understand! Got a juice instead because I'm a loose canon and also they did not sell pink lemonade.

Lots of love from us both! Until tomorrow!!

Oh also the showers here are quite alarming. There is no where in the little cubicle that you can avoid the water and your only control is the button that slowly releases so you can't turn it off when you want. Your fate is left to the tiny button timer. Scary stuff! Especially when the water gets really hot and you can't hide anywhere so you just get blasted with boiling water! You feel very clean afterwards though so that's always a plus!
